Thanks to a brawl at a wedding between feuding clans, Tor MacRob, the second for his clan, is wed on the spot to Ainsley Shaw, the sister of the laird of their enemy. Ainsley and Tor refuse to accept this result of the king’s temper and travel to Berwick in the hopes that in solving a mystery for the clan, they may end the feud and be able to have their marriage annulled.
But as they spend more time together on their travels, Tor’s desire to dissolve the marriage wanes and he begins to wonder how he might woo his wife instead.
This book was enemies to lovers in the best way because I loved the relatively low angst we had here. Ainsley and Tor had a physical attraction between them from the get-go and once they realized that they were really enemies in name only, merely because of their clans, their relationship progressed naturally. I loved seeing them get to know one another on a genuine level, away from the interference of the hostilities of their clans and all the forced proximity was delicious. Cecelia is usually a do-no-wrong author for me, and this book was no exception. This couple really worked for me, and I enjoyed their story and how loving they wound up being together.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
