Since she stepped away from her own season to care for her family, Lady Cecelia Stopford has become lonely and wants to start a family for herself. She asks her matchmaking aunt for help finding a husband who is steady and reserved like she is. Instead, her aunt brings her Philip, her former childhood playmate turned rakish charmer. She’s utterly taken with the gentleman before she learns his true identity, but he must convince her to give him a chance to show that he’s exactly the man she needs.

This was a sweet story to spend the afternoon with. Despite its brevity, we still got some decent steam and a good development of the relationship between Philip and Cecelia. These two learned to communicate well and I loved that neither of them would accept less than full disclosure from the other. It was delightful to see Philip really bring Cecelia out of her shell and restore her to the vivacity she used to have when they were childhood friends. This was an enjoyable, quick read and I look forward to more in the series.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
