Since his father was killed when he was still a boy, Drake Fletcher has worked to keep his mother and three sisters safe, all the while hoping to earn the title of knight like his father. Given his half-English, half-Scottish heritage and the constant warring between the two countries, he’s had many obstacles to overcome but now he finally has an opportunity to achieve his dream. But his journey is impeded by a woman with lovely eyes and an inherent sense of mistrust that stirs something even in highly stoic Drake.

Greer MacPherson is trying to free her younger brother from what she believes is wrongful imprisonment, but no one will listen to her given her lack of consequence. To have any hope of saving him, she must call on her skills at deception and theft, as she has many times in her life. When she’s rescued from a tight spot by a handsome warrior, she finds herself irrevocably drawn, not just because of his good looks, but also because of his strength and steadfast morals.

As Drake and Greer grow close, their fragile trust is threatened by danger and betrayal and justice may not fall in their favor.

Drake has been one of my favorite characters throughout this whole series and his HEA was much anticipated for me. I found myself a bit skeptical of Greer at first and wishing she’d confided in Drake sooner, but her skepticism and distrust only made his honorable character stand out all the more. Drake was an excellent hero and seeing him prevail in the end was very satisfying. I loved the neat way everything came together in the end and left me feeling satisfied after the emotion of the story. The fast pace of this book held my attention, and I loved the characters, but most especially Drake having a chance to shine. This was a great conclusion to one of my favorite series and I’m sad to see it end.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
