Since he was forced to clear the tenants from his ancestral home in order to keep the estate solvent, Blair MacTiernay, Earl of Brenmore, has had no desire to return to the Highlands. But when a distant cousin dies leaving Blair the guardianship of a young ward and the Highland estate to which she is heir, he has no choice. Blair has a firm plan to remain aloof from the estate and the girl and most especially her lovely governess.
With Blair considering sending her charge to boarding school and clearing the tenants from the estate, Amelia Harlow is in danger of losing her position as governess and the place she’s come to call home. Amelia and her young charge set about reminding Blair of all the delightful Highland Christmas traditions he left behind in the hopes of changing his mind. All that charm and mistletoe leads to an unexpected romance between Amelia and Blair, but it will take a miracle to keep the estate afloat and in its traditional state.
This was a cute, quick read. Though it’s not steamy, the descriptions of the Highlands and the holiday cheeriness were charming enough that I didn’t mind. The thawing of Blair’s heart was endearing and his growing bond with Amelia was charming. They came together a bit abruptly but had lovely chemistry and this was an adorable way to escape to the Highlands for a while.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
