Even though her scandalous actions helped facilitate the capture of a traitor to the crown, they've still seen Rebecca Burgess off to Miss Dobson's Finishing School, which is well known to be an essential reformatory for ladies with damaged reputations. She wants nothing more than to be reunited with the handsome Bow Street Runner who helped arrest her sister's traitorous lover, but she knows her chances of seeing Nigel Kent again are slim. When a famous Indian diamond is stolen from the house next door to the school and Nigel must investigate the theft, he finds Rebecca to be an unexpected aide. There happens to be a network of secret passageways between the school and the building the diamond was stolen from, convenient for eavesdropping.Nigel and Rebecca grow ever closer and he begins to worry that she may not want him once she learns the truth about him, but with his heart now involved he knows he must take the risk. When the hypocritical Miss Dobson learns of their relationship, her actions may be enough to keep them apart and ensure the diamond thief goes free.
I couldn't put this book down. It was very steamy but it also had a substantial and interesting plot that kept me intrigued. I was utterly charmed by Nigel and his alpha male tendencies. This was my first read of this series and I'm looking forward to reading the other installments.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
