Minerva, the Dowager Countess of Harlow, has been widowed for two years when she learns a disturbing secret her late husband kept to her and turns to her longtime friend Sir Tristan King for support. Tristan can no longer deny his feelings for Minerva that he has long batted down out of respect for her being his friend's wife. But a mistletoe kiss and a Twelfth Night tryst only leave him wanting more. He's afraid to ruin his friendship with Minerva, but begins to wonder if perhaps they could have so much more.
These two were scorching together. It was definitely a steamy read, but very well done and it was lovely to see Minerva come into her own after being neglected and stifled by her husband. I loved seeing ex-soldier Tristan settling down and finding peace with the woman he secretly wanted for years.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
