Langdon has recently inherited the title of Earl of Kentwood from his
ailing uncle and has become the most sought after bachelor of the
season. But his popularity isn't just due to his title and wealth, but
also his authorship of a scandalous book called A Guide to Passionate
Romps between a Lord and his Lady. Now he's sought-after as London's
most skillful lover, but in reality Max is still a virgin. Now he thinks
he's ready to take a lover and move on from the only woman he's ever
loved, until he meets her again and begins to renew their old
friendship.
Lady Amalie Weatherston has resigned herself to a lonely life as a widow and under a cloud of scandal. She has a lovely group of friends and fulfilling hobbies, but she's still lonely and has never had a lover despite her years of marriage. When her friends encourage her to take a lover, particularly the writer of London's most salacious book, so she can report her newfound knowledge back to them, Amalie decides she might just risk it. Her reputation is mired in scandal so she knows nothing permanent can ever come of it, but Amalie finds she cannot resist the chance to be with the man who she once loved and lost, even if he'll never consider her to be worthy of his true emotions.
Overall, I enjoyed this quick, sweet read, though I found the hero to be at times too soft and unwilling to stick up for himself and his own feelings. Luckily, this was rectified rather satisfactorily in the end. I liked how vulnerable Max and Amalie were together and the fact that they had both waited for each other, as well as their honesty with each other, especially after Max really came into his own. This was a good addition to this cute series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
