Lady Rosalind Forbes is no mere lady-in-waiting but rather a spy for Queen Elizabeth Bruce of Scotland. She's the brains of the group and integral to their success, but she's keeping vital secrets from the rest of the team, the most dire being that she's fallen for the man who is their main suspect in a treasonous plot against the king and queen.

Cameron Fraser was the son of a laird before he ran away, eventually becoming the leader of a band of thieves known as the Red Hand. But his goal to find the woman he ousted from the group, for her own safety, has lead him back home. There he meets Rosa and is unable to deny his fierce attraction to the exotic beauty.

Cam and Rosa wind up riding together to escort his newfound niece safely to her father in Scone. When the trip is delayed by bandits, Rosa and Cam spend more time together and come to know and trust one another. Cam doesn't even know he's suspected of treason and Rosa is becoming more and more certain of his innocence, but she must prove that to the queen if she hopes to have a future with Cam.

This was a lovely redemption story. It was very fast-paced and I couldn't put it down. Cam struggled with feelings of unworthiness and it was lovely to see him learning to believe in himself and Rosa was so sweet with him. I loved the interactions between Cam and Lachlan and the rest of the characters from the previous books; Charlotte was the only one I really didn't like. I really enjoyed this one and can't wait for more from this author.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
